Gone are the days when every woman waits to be approached by a man. Women have become more open to approaching men and letting what they want be know. If you are looking to explore this side of things, here are a few tips to get you started:

Compliment The Guy

Men might act tough on the outside, but they also like to be told nice things about themselves. Complimenting a guy about his physique, his looks, his clothes or something he does well can be a good way to start a conversation. The goal is not to objectify the person but to cue that you like how they look/dress. Also try not to overdo it. I have personally found it a bit annoying when guys overdo this so I imagine they wouldn’t like it being excessive either. 

Find Common Ground

Try and connect through something you both have in common- a hobby, a book, an artist, a travel destination, an activity or something similar(or different) in your cultures. While compliments can be flirtatious and entryway to a conversation, finding common ground helps you hold the conversation. Compliments can tend to be playful. They could also make someone uneasy if you say them too often. Introduce something you both have in common to increase the quality of conversation and connection.

DON’T- Don’t Dumb Down To Appeal

This is a big DON’T for me. It is important that you remain yourself. Dumbing down or unnecessarily playing damsel in distress has the potential to make you look dumb to the guy, your/his friends or other people around you two. Strike a decent balance between allowing him to pamper you and taking charge of situations wherever you can. Moreover, if you are more skilled or smarter than him, do not act lesser than you are to keep him around and attracted. You will grow tired of it in the long run when he is unable to keep up.

Invite Them Out 

Take it a step further and invite them coffee/ice cream. Opt for something light and fun that will allow you to chat in between and get to know each other. You can also ask them if they have a favorite spot in town or you could checkout your favorite spot together. The latter would be more comfortable and familiar to you while the former would be nice for him. Choose what works for you:)

Show Interest In Something They Do/Like 

This is probably obvious but showing interest in what someone does, is an almost guaranteed way of getting into their good books. Try and find something they like, better yet ask them to be sure. Once you know, show a non-creepy level of interest. This would be different from something you have in common. It shows that you are interested in the things that make them happy!
