SOLO DATE IDEAS

Lifestyle & Relationships

March 27, 2021

Going on Solo Dates is a great way to reinforce love, commitment, confidence and pleasure in yourself. While solo-dating might be inspired by singlehood, sometimes it can stem from simply wanting to have a good time alone even if you are in a relationship. Other times it could be because your plans with your friends are always falling through but you decide to do activities by yourself instead of waiting for everyone to be ready.

For me it’s always because I want to show love and appreciation to myself. If you know me, you know I am a great advocate for this because of the benefits I highlighted here: BENEFITS OF BEING SINGLE AT A YOUNG AGE.

Back in college I got rid of the idea that in order to go somewhere, I had to go with someone. I took the leap and started going on solo trips before the pandemic. I have since enjoyed getting out of the bubble once in a while to enjoy good things. Here are a few ideas for you to try:

SPA DATE

A solo spa date screams self-care, relaxation and luxury so save up if you choose to do this. I personally love being pampered and this is something I would do at the end of a hard work month or on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day. It is a good way to unwind and rejuvenate before coming back to your regular routine.

DINNER DATE

Everyone loves a good meal out once in a while. Why wait for your friends who might never commit? Save up some money and keep a running list of places you would like to try out. Make a reservation. Ideally, select a booth or a table for one- some place you can avoid distractions. Bonus if you can secure a good view! You can also go for the bar if you are open to company and conversation. On the day of, doll yourself up, go out and enjoy yourself!

GO OUT OF TOWN

If you can drive or catch the train, you could go out of town to a location you have never been to before. Queue up your favorite albums, playlist or audiobooks. Here are some of my Spotify favorites to get you started: MY FAVORITE SPOTIFY SONGS OF THE YEAR.

Research a little bit on your destination for ease and safety purposes. You can also let someone know that you are making the trip just so they know your whereabouts. I love going to naturesque destinations- trees, hiking and rocks. Explore this if you have nearby towns with similar features.

SOLO NIGHT IN

Order in from your favorite restaurant and binge-watch your favorite romcom or TV show. Bake a brownie in a mug and top it with your favorite ice-cream flavor. You can add in a facemask to include a self-care aspect but you don’t have to. This is a time for you to be chill and happy. Light up your candles. You can also take the moment to create something: a vision board or mood board or homemade candles.

I have a free vision board template here: FREE VISION BOARD TEMPLATE. Make a copy and create your own vision board!

I tried to make this list a good mix of affordable, COVID safe and also accommodate lockdowns. The most important part is to have fun through each of these moments. Share below some of your favorite solo date experiences. I would love to read about them and try out some too!
