May-August, What Have I Been Up To?

August 3rd, 2021

I took an unexpected 3-month hiatus from blogging back in May and I can’t quite say I regret it. Here’s what I’ve been up to and a peek of how my creative juices might be flowing in the coming months.

Mental Check-In & Rest

I’ve been loving the new wave of high-profile Black women choosing their mental health, taking breaks and resting. From Naomi Osaka to Simone Biles, these Black women are showing up for themselves and what they need. Rest.

I think I was burnt out from consistently pushing out content back in the Spring but I didn’t realize it until I decided to take a break. I have spent the last three months not writing or researching or shooting and frankly it’s been something I didn’t know I needed but glad I got.

Travel & Adventure

I took time to travel this summer. I made two trips- one to Boulder, Colorado and another to Maui, Hawai’i. I deeply enjoyed both experiences and I am glad I got to do them without centering a blog post around it. I enjoyed being present. It reminded me of my college traveling days and how I loved to take solo trips. I can’t wait to safely do more of that in the next year. Thank you Pfizer.

New Home

I moved into a new place! I finally got a new apartment back in June. I moved to Bushwick, Brooklyn and I’m loving my new location. I still have a long way to go as far as furnishing is concerned(surely ottomans ought to be cheaper), but I am pretty excited to see what my new roommate and I make of the space.

What’s Coming…

I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my creative ventures and my personal & professional goals. Truth is, I don’t know. I was initially scared that I had lost vision of what I wanted for my blog, but I realized that my vision is simply evolving.

I enjoy the type of content I create and the objective behind my blog, but I am also wary of getting burnt out or hitting creative blocks if I don’t pace myself. I might expand into other platforms to diversify the type of content I create but that’s yet to be decided. Nonetheless, I want to keep creating, so please look forward to more from me 🙂
